Peru – Museo Larco

I’m back and in one piece! although I wouldn’t say the same about my knees. The Inca trail was a long, tough hike, but very much worth it. I only had a chance to go to the Archeological Larco Museum in Lima the last day we were there. And I took a few pics before my battery died… I also documented my trip and posted a few photos on flickr.

  1. Museo Larco Herrera is great. They have sooo many huacos (generic name given in Peru mostly to earthen vessels and other finely made pottery artworks found in pre-Columbian sites) of different preincan cultures. Some are really really amazing… Have you seen that huacos (several with the same image, telling us that this person was constantly present there through years) of a man apparently European (burly man with a beard, long hair and a hat tip). Sitting smiling. If my memory is not bad the name of this series of huacos is “El Visitante” (the visitor) So interesting.

There are others with chinese patters on it…. yes… some dragons, very very similar to the chinese ones.
And the most interesting for me is the one that represents a Chinese man with typical clothes, mustaches, long braid. The figure shows this man gagged, like a prisoner. Yeah, a chinese guy in Peru before Incas times… amazing!
