Frank Gehry’s Beekman Tower

Yesterday was a cloudless, 65 degree gorgeous day in NYC. Spent it with my sister and friends, nice brunch then off to D.U.M.B.O. One of my favorite spots to take my visits to. I haven’t been to this side of BK in a while and right away noticed a GIANT new building going up in Manhattan’s downtown skyline. On our walk back over the BK bridge, noticed the new facade being constructed… It’s funky, wavy, different and I loved it. I also thought to myself it looked very Frank Gehry. Looked it up this morning and found it to be a Gehry designed Beekman Tower on Spruce St. I’m excited for the new building… and I think it will be a nice compliment the Freedom tower and other WTC buildings. Such a new and modern directions to such an old city. Kinda crazy seeing it change so drastically before our eyes.

More about the project here.

Architecture In Dubai

I haven’t written about architecture, but after this article I felt compelled to.

Everyone has heard and seen how Dubai is growing as an architect’s dream city. The land, the space, the freedom… or so it seems to me anyway. This article talks about a new waterfront city plan for the western side of Dubai. I feel like these landscapes and buildings are beautifully done and are an artistic representation of modern humanity.

This city, once finished, will look like the futuristic cities from the sci-fi world. I ‘d love to visit one day.
