Adia Millett
Thursday, April 8th, 2010Adia Millett’s current body of work, deeply embedded in metaphor, suggests a story of transition from loss to potential love. Her work examines the beauty of impermanence, the power of the unknown, and the illusion of innocence. She uses gestures, objects and sound to convey an abstracted reality where the viewer is asked to put together pieces of a mysterious puzzle. – Artist’s Statement
View more work on her website. She can also be found at Mixed Greens Gallery in Chelsea, NYC.

pretty protest
Wednesday, December 9th, 2009Those are some good looking protest shields!
@ Jens Dresling/AP
Colored shields, fluorescent tubes filled with a mix of oil and paint, boxes with paint bombs and several bolt cutters were on display after being confiscated by Danish police during a pre-dawn raid in Copenhagen on Wednesday.

In other news….
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009Totally unrelated to art, but I had to share… A red-tailed Hawk decided to pay me a visit with its dead pigeon… What a sight! He stared at me with his big black-marble eyes… I’ve never seen anything like it before… and so close. I’ve heard of Falcon’s in NYC, but a hawk??? Thank you nature.

Watch him EAT IT!

AlterEgo – The Movie
Tuesday, December 1st, 2009I watched this movie last night…and I am incredibly impressed with Daniel’s work. It all really came together and it’s a solid piece of documentation. This movie is a robust view of the art form, its history and its current perils. It’s exciting, informative, absorbing and personal. I love it, can you tell? If graffiti is somehow part of your life, you need to watch this. No, actually, everyone should. The DVD is available here.

I’ve been waiting for this moment for a while now. My good friend Daniel has finished his film. He has traveled the world to capture great graffiti artists doing their work. I am so proud of him and this will be a kick ass movie. If you happen to be in Berlin, go to the premiere. If you are stuck at work (like me), check out the website alterego-themovie.com.
